Iran’s largest off-road safari resort inaugurated

Iran’s largest off-road safari resort was inaugurated in Qeshm Island in the southern province of Hormuzgan on Thursday.

Iranian officials say that Qeshm safari resort is ready to host tourists during Norouz holidays (March 19-April 3).

“Off-road, motorcycle resorts and auto racetracks are important in attracting tourists to Qeshm and also contribute to the economic development of the country” The Secretary of the Supreme Council of Iran’s Free Trade, Industrial and Special Economic Zones Akbar Torkan said.

Masoud Karbaschi, the deputy head of Qeshm Free Trade Zone Organization, said Qeshm is prepared to host Asian auto racing. “Qeshm off-road and safari resort spreads over an area of 500 hectares,” he said.

Karbaschi added that Qeshm Island is also the venue for horse and camel racing and can serve as a suitable location for international games.

Qeshm Island, whose land area is greater than the total area of 22 countries, has high tourism potentials and attracts millions of Iranian and foreign tourists throughout the year.

Qeshm hosts the Middle East’s first international geopark, which plays an important role in improving the national economy.
