The funeral of Iranian popular singer Habib Mohebian, khown as ‘Habib’, attracted thousands of mourners.
The ceremony was held on Saturday in a village in the vicinity of Ramsar city in Mazandaran province.
Habib passed away on Friday due to cardiac arrest at the age of 63.
He was born in Shemiran, north of Tehran, in September 1952. Habib left Tehran in 1981 and moved to Los Angeles, US, three years later. In 2009, Habib sent a letter to the then Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad asking for returning home.
Ahmadinejad accepted his request and Habib retuned to Iran.
‘Mard-e Tanha-ye Shab’ (The Lone Man in the Night), ‘Shahla’ and ‘Madar’ (The Mother) were among the famous songs of Habib.
