Sareh Bayat named Best Actress at New Jersey Film Festival

Iranian actress Sareh Bayat was named Best Actress for Oblivion Season (Fasle Faramooshiye Fariba) at the 3rd Annual Rahway International Film Festival.

Sareh Bayat, who was nominated for the best actress title, won the award at the  Rahway International Film Festival held in New Jersey, IRNA reported.

The 3rd annual Rahway International Film Festival was held at the Hamilton Stage at the Union County Performing Arts Center from August 28 through 30.

The Festival showcased 6 impressive feature length films and 22 short films in competition by talented filmmakers across the globe.

According to the Iranian media, the movie ‘Oblivion Season’ directed by Abbas Rafei attended the competition section of the Rahway International Film Festival.

Oblivion Season bagged four awards for Best Feature Film, Best Feature Narrative, Best Screenplay of a Feature Film, and Best Actress in a Feature Film.

The Iranian work has so far attended Hudson Festival in New York, held 14-19 August, in Monroe Academy for Visual Arts & Design, Brasov International Film Festival & Market 2015, and the Colombian International Film Festival. The Iranian movie is also accepted for the 39th Montreal World Film Festival (MWFF), scheduled from August 27 to September 7.

Oblivion Season competed in Iran’s 32nd Fajr International Film Festival and its actress Sareh Bayat was a nominee for the best actress. It also bagged the NETPAC Award (The Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema).

Oblivion Season tells the story of a woman in Iran who starts a new life by marrying her loved one, but leaving the shadow of her dark past is not as easy as it seemed. Now she is the prisoner of her loved one and to earn her freedom, she will need to fight with the masculine society.
